Privacy Policy

Effective July 16, 2026

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how Blackline ("Blackline," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use goblackline.com and the Blackline title-workflow service (the "Service"). By using the Service, you acknowledge the practices described here.

2. Information we collect

We may collect the following categories of information:

  • Account information: email address, authentication records, referral information, and account preferences.
  • Customer content: courthouse records, photographs, PDFs, project details, notes, title data, runsheets, flags, and other material you upload or create.
  • Generated information: OCR text, extracted fields, confidence scores, classifications, suggested flags, and other outputs produced from customer content.
  • Usage and device information: page activity, feature usage, browser type, device information, approximate location derived from network information, logs, and diagnostic data.
  • Support information: issue reports, correspondence, and information you provide when requesting help.
  • Billing information: if paid billing is offered, payment and billing information may be collected by our payment processor. Blackline does not intend to store complete payment-card numbers.

3. How we use information

We use information to:

  • provide, maintain, secure, and improve the Service;
  • authenticate users and administer accounts, trials, referrals, and subscriptions;
  • process documents, perform OCR and AI-assisted extraction, and generate requested outputs;
  • respond to support requests and diagnose technical problems;
  • monitor misuse, protect users, and enforce our Terms of Service;
  • comply with legal obligations and protect legal rights; and
  • communicate about material service, security, billing, or policy updates.

4. Document and AI processing

To provide OCR, extraction, classification, and related features, Blackline may send customer content, document images, or derived text to service providers that process information on our behalf. Those providers are permitted to use the information only as necessary to provide contracted services to Blackline, subject to their applicable terms and safeguards.

Automated outputs may be incomplete or inaccurate. Blackline is a workflow tool and does not provide a legal opinion, title opinion, legal advice, or a substitute for professional review.

5. How we disclose information

We may disclose information:

  • to hosting, database, authentication, analytics, email, AI, OCR, and support providers;
  • when you direct us to share information or use an integrated service;
  • to comply with law, legal process, or a valid governmental request;
  • to investigate fraud, abuse, security incidents, or threats to rights and safety; or
  • in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets.

Blackline does not sell customer documents or use them for targeted advertising.

6. Retention and deletion

We retain account information and customer content while needed to provide the Service, maintain security, resolve disputes, comply with law, and enforce agreements. When you delete an individual document or project, Blackline is designed to remove the associated active storage files as part of that deletion. Information may remain for a limited period in backups, logs, fraud-prevention records, or records we must retain by law. Backup copies are isolated from ordinary use and are deleted or overwritten on their normal retention cycle.

7. Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards intended to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for using appropriate judgment before uploading sensitive records.

8. Your choices and rights

You may access and update certain account or project information through the Service, delete documents or projects using available controls, and contact us to request help with access, correction, deletion, or other privacy rights available under applicable law. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

9. Children

The Service is intended for business and professional users and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

10. International processing

Information may be processed and stored in the United States and other locations where Blackline or its providers operate. Those locations may have data-protection laws that differ from the laws where you live.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. We will post the revised version with a new effective date and provide additional notice when required by law. Continued use after an update means the revised policy applies to future use of the Service.
